New Resource from Adobe

Hello!

Having good consistent graphic design for smaller churches has been somewhat of a challenge. Leading a volunteer team and outsourcing design to freelancers while keeping everything on brand with your church and looking good is not easy.

Well, I'm out at the Adobe MAX design conference in LA this week, and yesterday morning, Adobe announced something that will help bridge the gap.

Their tool Adobe Express Premium is now free for verified nonprofits!

What it is and what this means:

Adobe Express is a simpler and faster version of Photoshop that can be used on a web browser, phone, or tablet. It's very easy to use, comes loaded with lots of templates and fonts, and makes good design a lot more accessible. That has been one of MAX's main themes this year - giving more people access to tools that anyone can use. This announcement proves they mean it.

If you're familiar with Canva, Adobe Express is very similar to that, but a lot more powerful and integrates with other Adobe tools like Photoshop and Indesign.

Here's the link if you'd like to check it out. You have to verify your organization with TechSoup, and then you have access:

It may be worth checking out if:

  • You don't have a dedicated designer on staff or outsourced team
  • There's no budget or training for advanced tools like the entire Creative Cloud library
  • Your staff wears multiple hats and needs to produce fast and easy graphic content
  • You or your staff like dabbling in creative work

It's not for you if:

  • Your church has a creative team already
  • You have a CC subscription and people that know how to use it
  • You don't like technology or apps on any level
  • You need lots of print graphics and professional-level design
  • You're in Canada. Apparently, they haven't opened up the nonprofit application to our neighbors in the north yet.

Hope this helps! If there's any way that I can help you or your church move the needle in other creative ways, feel free to reach out.
