In 2017, after three years of freelancing, I named my venture Kindred Word Studio. Anne of Green Gables is one of the novels I fell in love with earliest, and her idea of the ‘kindred friend’ has stuck with me — words, indeed, are kindred to me.

Alongside this newsletter and freelance articles, I write and edit for a varied and ever-shifting roster of clients. Mostly other writers, artists, and small business owners. I edit grants and grant reports, novels, magazines, newsletters, textbooks, websites, the list continues.

As I near the 10th anniversary of naming my freelance work in a bid to professionalize, I still give a damn. The first ten years has been held together with wheat paste and late nights, as I work around and with the shifting sands of young family life and the state of media. Big yikes. But I’m so grateful for the work. I love it and I can’t wait to see what comes next. To find out whose words I get the privilege of working with next. It could be you.
