status thingy
Howdy! Ironically, I have some irons in the fire that I can't talk about at this time. XD So this is light on actualfax updates.
One thing I did treat myself to in January was the Graphic Novel Workshop (Zoom/online) taught by the excellent Paul Karasik via the Center for Cartoon Studies. It was terrific and I learned so much despite missing the last two days thanks to illness. :D

FAQ (Foxily Asked Questions)
What are you working on?
I'm currently on the 2nd draft of CODE & CODEX (linguistics sci fantasy) while awaiting an edit letter on another book. :)
What are you reading lately?
I loved Zohar Jacobs' short story "The Enceladus South Pole Base Named After V.I. Lenin" [Clarkesworld; free to read at link].
Searing and sublime: faith/science, fallacy/hope. I lost count of the number of times I burst into tears.
What are you listening to lately?
Surprising no one since I am a (G)I-DLE (K-pop) stan, I've been listening to their latest album 2.
Who's an artist you're enjoying lately?
Patrick J. Jones! Possibly cheating as I am :sweatdrop: midway through a four-week workshop, the Anatomy of Style, with him. I am very much a beginner and I am getting my butt kicked in the best way possible, but I am willing to work hard and keep working hard. :D
Embarrassingly, my father used to be a surgeon (including being head of the surgery department and teaching medicine) but I came in with almost zero human anatomy knowledge. No time like the present!
I have a foxy question you haven't answered here!
Sure, please email deuceofgearsart@gmail.com and I'll get back to you!
And the obligatory catten pic:

That's right: imagine OPENING your dryer to this jump scare! We'd known she could OPEN the dryer but this was the first confirmation that she could CLOSE IT after herself...
