Sold a book!
I've sold a book! Let me quote from Publishers Marketplace because lazy:
...CODE AND CODEX, about plans to reach backwards and forwards in time by revising history in this space opera adventure of linguistics magic in the author's return to adult science fiction, to Joe Monti at Saga Press, in a pre-empt, for publication in summer 2025, by Seth Fishman at The Gernert Company (NA).
a.k.a. the book I wrote half of while waiting for edits on the sequel to my YA book MOONSTORM (#1 in a trilogy, forthcoming June 2024).
Also, a talisman/pendant by the fabulous Elise Matthesen, a gift from a generous benefactor, called "The Invention of Language":

FAQ (Foxily Asked Questions)
What are you working on?
CODE & CODEX! I can't do anything on Moonstorm trilogy #2 until I get the edits, so might as well make hay while the sun shines!
In personal projects, I'm working on a smol animation thing. It's still in preproduction, but I'm having fun!
What's one thing you're reading right now?
I have Django Wexler's forthcoming HOW TO BECOME THE DARK LORD AND DIE TRYING (May 2024) in e-ARC and it's proving a fantastic read. Davi is sick of dying over and over, Groundhog Day-style, trying to defeat the Dark Lord as the Chosen One. So she decides to join the winning side—or better yet, become the winning side. Hilarious and fun. :D
By the way, if you're wondering why I don't mention short stories: I read a lot of them! I read a lot of them...as a slush reader for Escape Pod. Which is great, but in this capacity I cannot discuss the submissions, obviously. I will say, though, that finding a gem in the slush is the best feeling.
What are you watching lately?
My husband and I started watching BLUE EYE SAMURAI and are enjoying it a lot so far!
What are you listening to lately?
I've been enjoying hammered dulcimer music from Vince Conaway, whom I heard in person recently at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival. Absolutely gorgeous.
What's a game you're playing lately?
My husband and I have been playing the board game Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition with the Crisis co-op expansion almost nightly. We liked Ares Expedition but we love Crisis! It's hard to find co-op games that work for us both but this one is fantastic. If you have co-op board game recs, please let me know! (Yes, we know about Pandemic and Gloomhaven, haha.)
Special shout out to my local game store, Little Wars in Baton Rouge, owned and run by Van Vo. Absolutely fantastic place to buy games, hang out, play games. :)
Who's an artist you're enjoying lately?
I recently bought some stickers and fox spirit washi tape from Lioninthetrees. Shirley is a Black and Korean artist with fantastic pottery, prints, zines, and other offerings. I also own one of Shirley's gorgeous horse mugs! (I was born in the Year of the Horse.)

And of course, a catten pic!
