And now with color
Howdy! I’ve finally gotten a watercolor version of Candle Arc #1 done and sent to Ka-Blam; with any luck, the proof will come back okay and I can list it for POD (print-on-demand) at Indyplanet. This is a personal project so at this point it doesn’t make sense to e.g. order a larger print run and fulfill it myself, especially given the wild instability in shipping/fulfillment out of the USA where I’m located.
Preview of the watercolor cover and first page for the curious!

My discovery continues to be that the “ideal" or “efficient” art process that I hate so much I avoid it for 6+ months at a time is not a net gain. I’ve never enjoyed doing digital comics coloring whatever the style, although I’ve seen many gorgeous examples, so watercolor it is. I’m also not doing a highly rendered (time-consuming) watercolor style so much as loose washes, nor am I attempting naturalistic coloring as opposed to color symbolism and composition.
Still toiling away at the 2D animation for Candle Arc as I suss out the voice acting situation, likely with scratch vocals to start. This is self-funded so budgeting is a thing.
Otherwise, I’ve been buried under orchestration homework and spinning thread and yarn on my Ashford Traveller for relaxation + physical therapy for my wrecked ankles.
(The fountain pen is a Pilot Decimo for scale.)
