You can now run a quick predictions contest on when Mike McDaniel will no longer be the head coach of the Miami Dolphins! Add A Contest from either the Dashboard or your Contests list and you will see this as a choice.

This is made possible because I added a new option to Predictions contests.

The Predictions contest engine has allowed me to do a lot on Degen.club. I originally did it for a predictions contest around the 2024 US Presidential Election, but then promptly used it again in quick succession for predicting NFL Player Awards, the NFL Coaching Carousel, the Academy Awards, and for the most fun on short notice, the Papal Conclave.

However it really only supported two kinds of predictions - picking a winner from a list, and an over/under result for a numeric outcome.

What was missing was “closest to pin” or “how many jelly beans in the jar” kind of predictions.

As a group, we had done this kind of thing in the past, most famously on how long it would take a couple to give up their plan to live out of an RV constantly on the road and finally settle down (in the end it took 1115 days).

Well that’s exactly the kind of long-term nonsense the Degen.club site is great for. Whatever happened to that bet? Wait, is it still going? Yes! Who’s in the lead? Let’s take a look and see. And how much is in the pot?

So when a friend in Baltimore suggested a Mike McDaniel hot seat contest, I could not resist. And the result is running now for everyone to use.
