Defguard 2.0 Alpha 2 Released — Nearly Feature-Complete

Defguard 2.0 Alpha 2 is now available. This release is nearly feature-complete and replaces Alpha 1 as the recommended version for proof-of-concepts and early testing. Production deployments should remain on 1.6.x for now.

🆕 What's New in Alpha 2

  • Quick Setup Wizard & OVA Images — All components (Core, Edge, Gateway) auto-deployed and provisioned via Docker Compose or new VM image.
  • High Availability — Multi-gateway support with Envoy load balancing; updated gateway setup and management UI.
  • Firewall Management — New firewall interface for testing, expanding on 1.x concepts.
  • Static IP Assignment — Assign IPs to users and devices directly from context menus.
  • Easier Edge & Gateway Deployment — Wizard-guided setup with clearer deployment instructions.

⏭ What's Next

The first Beta is coming in the next few weeks and will include an automated 1.6 → 2.0 migration wizard, so you can validate upgrade flows in staging before final rollout.
