Don't Pick Up the Rope

Polite isn’t the same as yielding authority.

We often mistake being polite for yielding authority. If you find yourself frustrated by people overstepping your boundaries at public events, remember: quiet confidence is louder than pushy interference.

THE WEEKLY DRILL

1. Identify the bait — What are they using to lure your attention or your kids? (Treats? Guilt? Noise?)

2. Neutralize with value — Be the source of a better vibe. Kids are young; they follow the leader who is moving forward with joy, not the one looking back in anger.

3. Document & detach — Keep the log of interference for the record, then clear it from your mind. Don't let their 10 minutes of overstepping ruin your 48 hours of peace.
