Good day, eh.

I'm excited to share my new song inspired by "The Hound Of Heaven" amid these chaotic times!

Hello! It is I, Ted of the band Death Waits.

Let me first start by saying thanks for signing up. I had no idea there would be so many of you right out of the gate. There is a small chance that I may have to migrate this to a platform that can handle more of you, for free. Don’t worry-you won’t have to do anything.

Second-I am way too lazy to be sending these out with any regularity. At worst it might be once a month. Fear not, ye spam refusers.

It also feels kind of gross to be using social media anymore, given that the people who are actively trying to destroy American democracy own those platforms.

These are, for lack of a better word, troubling times. I don’t want to pretend like those of us here in Canada aren’t feeling a little, well, iffy is probably the best way to describe it right now. It feels really weird being in a band and being like “anyone check out my Soundcloud?” when everything around us seems to be on fire. It also feels kind of gross to be using social media anymore, given that the people who are actively trying to destroy American democracy own those platforms. Which is why I started this in the first place. I neither want to be beholden to them and their whims, or reliant on them should things get kinetic as they say.

So here we are (wherever “are” is?)

I wrote a new song, and it’s the very first thing I’ve written in a very long time where I feel extremely proud of it both musically and lyrically. It shares a title with a poem written in (checks notes) 1890, called “The Hound Of Heaven” by Francis Thompson, but in actuality was inspired by a post (skeet?) by Talia Lavin* that I thought “wow, that’s a really nice turn of phrase” and it sent me down this rabbit hole.

*She’s an incredibly fun follow on Bluesky I highly recommend it.

If you follow us on Threads or Bluesky you may have heard this already, but if not here you go! (for those who care about such things, its meant to be played as loud as possible, in the dark, at night.)

Anywho, thanks again. I hope to have more stuff to share in the coming days months as I may have to get actually diligent if I want to have this album out by the summer/before/after the war starts lololololololololomgggggggggg

Stay safe, I love you all.

Ted
