Do it with a broken heart
Full disclosure: I do not have a broken heart. I just thought it was funny to kick things off with a Taylor Swift(?) lyric.
Anyway.
I’ve been busy. Applied for a grant, and no sooner had I hit the submit button I thought of a thousand better ways to say what I said. I’ve been walking around for like a week mad at myself. But-as I so often tell other musicians-done is better than perfect. Next round is September hopefully I’ll do better.
I’ve also started visual arts. It’s mostly a hobby/meditative practice to keep my artistic mind sharp. Am I any good? Lord no. Will I ever be? Who knows. Who cares really? I think the most important thing is enjoying it. I don’t even have any expectations or hopes about it. It’s just fun. And it’s helpful as a songwriter and musician to see things from a totally different perspective. Visually I like abstracts, and I’m very drawn to subtle shifts in texture. I have a rough idea how that looks within my chosen mediums-but would find it challenging to apply this in musical format. Just something to think about.

But anyway hopefully there’s going to be a new album out this fall. I wanted to get it done for the summer but am struggling to find the time.
Big love to you all
