2023's Top Things I Want To Tell You About
In this newsletter:
- It's gift-giving time, so here are some small paintings I have if you want to buy something for yourself.
- The Stacks are playing New Year's Eve...in Athens GA.
Hello from New Orleans, and thanks for being a subscriber to my newsletter, or, if somebody forwarded it to you, thanks for reading it at least once.
I promised this would be an infrequent newsletter and I really lived up to that promise because it's been six months since I sent one. Maybe next year I can make it a little more frequent.
I hope everyone who gets this will e-mail me back a little something about how their year went. I love those family newsletters people used to xerox and send out, bragging or covering up for whatever they did during the year.
I had a good year! Still self-employed (the greatest gift), got a new car that's less than twenty years old, Buddy's cat behavior continues to improve, and I weigh about the same.
Besides boasting of these towering achievements, I also wanted to remind everybody, at this gift-giving time of the year, that I do have a few small works for sale. Maybe somebody you know would like one? Here are some:
You can see all these (with dimensions! and prices!) at my art-pushin' website, https://thisismyhappening.com. Drop me a line, or a text, or a call, if you like something.
I've got a couple of larger pieces I'm pretty happy with too. I've been liking machines and useful vehicles a lot. This year I completed a couple more paintings on that theme:
And of course, I've been doing almost-daily drawings of people singing karaoke lyrics that I find funny, and (so far) one of those drawings made it to the painting big leagues:
Anything else?
Well, yes! I still consider myself a practitioner of the obsolete, forgotten, and much-maligned-when-people-even-bother-to-comment-on-it genre of "rock and roll", and my rock and roll band has a show coming up in Athens, GA. The Stacks (my rock and roll band) will be appearing on NEW YEAR'S ROCKIN' EVE at Nowhere Bar, opening up for Shehehe and Mercyland.
This "touring rock band" thing is a young person's game, so it's perfect for me.
I think that's it for one e-mail. One last link: Visit my online t-shirt, tote bag, and sticker store. (You can order stuff with my art on it, and I get a buck or two. Let me know if you want something that's not there yet--we'll make it happen.)
And the very last thing: I have every intention of sending a holiday card/mailer/something. It may not arrive before Valentine's Day, but I will send it. So, if you want to get a real card in the real mail, from me, reply back with your postal address. Or send me mail!
Thanks for reading, everybody, and I hope you have a great holiday, and don't get stuck on the tarmac!
Your pal,
Dave
