Nothing never happens
This is pretty exciting: My book As Public as Possible: Radical Finance for America’s Schools (New Press) is coming out in a couple months. That means we’re sending out review copies for people to get an early look at. If you’re interested in reviewing it for your blog, department, platform, or other venue—no matter how big or small!—just respond to this email and I can try to get you a PDF copy from the publisher. Meanwhile, if you want to preorder it, you can do so here.

This week I’m sending along a podcast interview I did with the radical pedagogy show Nothing Never Happens. The episode is called “Banking Methods: Education Finance for Radical Teachers.”
While we focus a bunch on finance, the episode actually goes way back into my history to talk about how I came to radical pedagogy, going from my time at summer camp, to high school philosophy seminars and philosophy of mathematics in college, to my time as a high school teacher, then to my research on classroom discussion during Occupy Wall Street, and then to finance.
It’s kind of an educational history of how I got to what I do now, including this newsletter—perfect for the back to school season, lol.
