When my book first came out, I did an event organized by comrades in central New Jersey (you know who you are)!
The event was specifically oriented around organizing teachers across unions, counties, and district lines, focusing on school financing as a possible issue to create unity across the state’s riven municipal landscape.
At the time, Montclair, NJ was going through a particularly bad budget crisis, which is still ongoing. The group had a great conversation about how crises like this come up perpetually and what teacher-education community organizers can do about it.
In the audience was Erik Jacobson, a professor at Montclair State University, who hosts a podcast called the Critical Teaching and Learning Forum (great name).
We connected at the event and he invited me on to chat about the book, school finance, etc.
I’m sending along that recording this week.
