On Pricing

This section is most relevant for those living outside the United States

I've tried my best to incorporate Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) into the pricing of my self-published books. They way I've done that is to use the “Big Mac Index”, which creates an exchange rate for currencies against the US dollar based on the price of a Big Mac in each country. This is often different from the currency exchange rate used in banking. In theory, this adjusts prices to what feels the same in each country.

The way I've used this is in two ways:

• There are discount codes for varous countries that will reduce the price of the book to what, in theory, is the same cost. You can view the codes here. You cannot use more than one code, so in the case of this book, if you live in China, Hong Kong, India, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, or Ukraine, you should use the PPP code from my website and not DEVLIST.
• The Amazon paperback is priced differently in each region where Amazon supports paperbacks. I used percentages similar to the ones in my discount codes to price them as fairly as I could. Meaning, if you buy the book from amazon.com.au, the price there is lower than what 29.99 USD would be in AUD.

Note that in both cases, I may have used a lower per-country discount to ensure my costs are covered and I make at least something from each sale. These books are my only source of income at the moment.
