Five Links #96
1. Contrast Triangle
A useful tool to check the contrast across three colours (though I would always advocate to underline links).
2. In a blind test, audiophiles couldn't tell the difference between audio signals sent through copper wire, a banana, or wet mud — 'The mud should sound perfectly awful, but it doesn't,' notes the experiment creator
Initial test results showed that it’s extremely difficult for listeners to correctly pick out which audio track used which wiring setup. “The amazing thing is how much alike these files sound. The mud should sound perfectly awful, but it doesn’t,” Pano said. “All of the re-recordings should be obvious, but they aren’t.”
3. The AI-free site builder for genius founders
All your friends are generating sub-par landing pages using AI tools. It’s natural to feel left out. Fight the FOMO without the token usage with Fraude Design. A revolutionary AI-free slop generator.
4. Alternative thoughts
I can understand why someone doomscrolling slop-tok shorts might not pause to consider the effect of their implicit acceptance. But the “it’s just a tool” crowd in the tech industry — well, is it wilful ignorance or feeble apologism?
Why is it that those most embedded in tech are most eager to push the AI narrative?
5. Google Chrome silently installs a 4 GB AI model on your device without consent
Add this to the list of reasons not to use Chrome.
What am I up to?
- The next design process interview is coming soon (actually! I know this status has remained unchanged for a couple of weeks, but the transcription is nearly complete...)
- My next available Unoffice Hour slot is 27 May
- I have limited availability for new projects from June.
