Five links for your inbox from this week.
1. Ethical Design Network
From Trine Falbe, one of the authors of The Ethical Design Handbook, this new Slack community is worth checking out if you’re in the ethical design space.
2. Apple’s Privacy Ad
Another ad from Apple that raises awareness about tracking in the adtech industry. Of course it positions Apple as the solution, but they are rolling out lots of useful privacy features to a large audience.
3. Minds@Work Community
A new community aiming to improve mental health in the workplace
4. Some top 100,000 websites collect everything you type—before you hit submit
Analysing the top 100,000 websites, researchers found that:
1,844 websites gathered an EU user's email address without their consent, and a staggering 2,950 logged a US user's email in some form. Many of the sites seemingly do not intend to conduct the data-logging but incorporate third-party marketing and analytics services that cause the behavior.
And much of this data is collected before you hit submit. Another widespread set of privacy abuses collected by invasive analytics software.
5. Click
This simple browser-based game beautifully demonstrates how websites can collect data to profile users from the most basic interactions.
