Five Links #88
1. A day in the life of an Ensh*ttificator
Amusing video from the Norwegian Consumer Council (you might want to watch with headphones).
2. Practical Hugo
Harry Cresswell has launched a course on building websites with Hugo. The course content is 100% free while in beta, under a pay-what-you-want model – really interesting to see this approach.
3. Dark mode & accessibility myth
Also, don’t force users to follow their operating system settings. Some people are okay with a dark OS, while being not able to read light to dark text (spoiler alert: me).
4. Google API keys weren’t secrets. But then Gemini changed the rules.
Worth knowing if you have clients that use the Google Maps API on a public website/repository and use Gemini.
5. cliamp
Winamp, but in your terminal:
Play local files, streams, podcasts, YouTube, SoundCloud, Spotify, and Navidrome with a spectrum visualizer, parametric EQ, and playlist management.
What am I up to?
- I published the first of my design process interviews, with Joshua Galinato a few weeks ago. More soon!
- My next available Unoffice Hour slot is 1 April
- I have limited availability for new projects from April.
