Five Links #84
1. iPod Sock icons
Absolutely glorious hard drive icons for macOS.
2. Times New Resistance
A new entrant to the catalogue of disruptive typefaces. It’s Times New Roman with a penchant for autocorrecting autocrats.
3. Accessibility For Everyone
Laura Kalbag has published her A Book Apart title online for free. Great to have such an amazing resource permanently and digitally available.
4. How Substack makes money from hosting Nazi newsletters
One of its recent posts suggests the Jewish race was responsible for the second world war and describes Adolf Hitler as “one of the greatest men of all time”. Within two hours of subscribing to NatSocToday for the purposes of this investigation, the Substack algorithm directed the Guardian’s account to 21 other profiles featuring similar content.
5. Be scam aware
All manner of industries encourage people to be scam aware, and I was pleasantly surprised to see this on Katy Carlisle’s business site. It’s a simple but effective implementation with some nice details – definitely food for thought for independent service providers.
What am I up to?
- I’ve published the first of my design process interviews, with Joshua Galinato. Please share if you find it interested, and send suggestions of designers you’d be interested to hear from.
- I’m looking to expand my design/tech media diet, especially places that don’t look at everything through a pro-AI lens. Contributions welcome!
- Marc Jenkins wrote a nice piece on our recent collaboration, redesigning his business site
- My next available Unoffice Hour slot is 1 April
- I have limited availability for new projects from April.
