Five Links #82
1. Just the Browser
Configuration files for Chrome, Firefox and Edge to “remove AI features, telemetry data reporting, sponsored content, product integrations, and other annoyances from desktop web browsers.”
2. Payment processors were against CSAM until Grok started making it
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Stripe, and Discover did not return requests for comment. The US Financial Coalition Against Child Sexual Exploitation — an industry group composed of payments processors, banks, and credit card companies — also did not return a request for comment. On its website, FCACSE brags that “As a result of its efforts, the use of credit cards to purchase child sexual abuse content online has been virtually eliminated globally.”
Except, of course, on X.
3. Proton spam and the AI consent problem
Has anyone else noticed that the AI industry can’t take “no” for an answer? AI is being force-fed into every corner of tech. It’s unfathomable to them that some of us aren’t interested.
The entire AI industry is built upon a common principle of non-consent. They laugh in the face of IP and copyright law. AI bots DDoS websites and lie about user-agents. Can it get worse than the sickening actions of Grok? I dread to think.
4. Grid Paper
Configurable, printable grid paper from Dave Rupert.
5. The names they call themselves
Our goal should not be to make fascist or Nazi apply to Trump’s movement, no matter how well those rhetorical gloves fit his short-fingered disgustingly bruised hands. Don’t call Trump “Hitler”. Instead, work until “Trump” becomes a new end state of Godwin’s Law.
The job won’t be done, this era of madness will not end, until we make the names they call themselves universally acknowledged slurs.
