Five Links #76
1. Fluck
A website builder for artists, designers and creatives, arriving in 2026:
We reject everything Big Tech represents: black boxes, invasive algorithms, prioritizing shareholders over users, and pure corporate greed. We want to help reclaim the web that was once a place of genuine discovery and opportunity, before it became an extraction machine.
2. Web Accessibility Cookbook
Accessibility is complex and nuanced, so it’s always good to come across practical resources that help with common patterns.
3. Temper Temper blog
Speaking of accessibility, I came across Martin Underhill’s blog. It’s full of great, informed accessibility thoughts and resources.
4. Miniphone Ultra
I don’t own an Apple Watch Ultra, but if I did this would be tempting. What a cool alternative method of carrying a smart watch.
5. Blank Spaces
A few years ago, I explored getting a minimal phone as part of a push towards digital minimalism. After some experimentation, I realised that social media and email were the biggest draws for me: removing both from my phone made a huge difference.
I’ve been social-media free for a few years, but I’m curious to try this app that aims to further reduce phone distraction.
What am I up to?
- Almost all of my work comes through collaborations, so I’ve put together a short page that collaborators can share with clients that covers the key things to know about me.
- Reminder that I’m planning to ask some designers about their design process for a new project. If this interests you: who would you want to hear from and what would you like to know?
- I have space for three design consultations each week – a great way to get design feedback without the commitment of a large project
- My next available Unoffice Hour slot is 21 January
- I have limited availability for new projects from January.
