Absorbing
Five links for your inbox from this week.
1. Free Beer
With Sober October around the corner, this is a useful bookmark for anyone looking for alcohol-free beer recommendations. Incidentally, I recently discovered that the Guinness 0.0% is an incredible drink – very close to the real thing – and one of the top-rated alcohol-free beers on this site.
2. LearnUI Newsletter
A few weeks ago, I subscribed to the Learn UI Design newsletter. It is brilliant and features lots of practical tips in short, easy-to-understand emails. This is a longer-form version of one of those emails that’s well-worth a look.
3. Earth’s submarine fiber optic cable network
The idea that there’s a physical cable between the UK and US always bewildered me. It turns out there are lots of these very long cables all around the world. Incredible.
4. Upwork impersonation
An absolutely wild tale of impersonation. I won’t spoil it, but it’s worth a read.
5. Fig
A useful terminal app suggests sensible autocompletions. Looks very handy if terminal isn’t quite your thing.
Projects + other things
- For the first time in two years, I’m available to take on a limited number of independent projects
- Why I switched from a Popular Backup Service™
- My Unoffice Hours are available every other Wednesday. Next slot: October 5th.
If you enjoy the newsletter, please give it a share on Twitter or forward it to someone you think might like it. If you were forwarded this email, you can subscribe here.
