A delay, a Podcast and other bits and bobs
Hello!
You are reading (Dataviz) Design Matters - a newsletter series made with 💕 by T. from Data Rocks.
If you’re new here but like what you see, subscribe below and get all upcoming issues straight into your inbox.
Hi Friends!
Welcome to this month's issue of (Dataviz) Design Matters, which will be shorter and a little bit different.
A delay
I had originally planned to talk about iconography in visual displays. Or, why and how to use (or not) icons as part of a data display's design.
I try my best to be consistent with my writing, but sometimes life happens. I wasn't able to finish all the images I wanted to add to the final article.
So, I'll delay publishing it until early May.
It is looking good, though! I think it'll be worth the wait. ☻
A Podcast
In the meantime, you can listen to me chatting with Brian T. O'Neil in the Experiencing Data podcast.
I've joined a couple of YouTube Lives before, but this is officially my first Podcast!

We talked about design definitions in the analytics space, how User Journey Maps can help understand real user needs. I also shared a user experience framework I use in one of my workshops.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on what we discussed! If you want to keep the conversation going, you can either leave a comment on the LinkedIn thread or reply to this email.
Other bits and bobs
There are still open slots in May for Rescue Sessions!
These sessions are ideal for anyone who has burning questions about their dataviz but no one to ask!
If you need answers but don't have the time to commit to full courses or the budget to hire a dataviz specialist full-time - I'm here for your dataviz quick fix.
You can get more details and prices here.
If you're still looking for something to read, you can explore the Design Matters archives, check The Dataviz Bookshelf on my blog or hop on LinkedIn to learn more about each of the principles of my Data Design Manifesto.
You can also support this newsletter by buying me a coffee or visiting the shop.
See you next month!
All the best,
T.
