Algorithmic Thinking, Dec 2020
Hi everyone,
(Finally: the Algorithmic Thinking book is available. Although being the holiday new copies probably won't be shipping until next week. Thank you all for your support of my work. Writing has really helped me in this 2020 year.)
I've continued posting programming puzzles to my Algorithmic Thinking blog related to material from the book:
- Picking Goods. Dynamic programming!
- World of World of Warcraft. Segment trees!
There is also new material about using bottom-up programming for the Ways to Pass problem from Chapter 3, and a recent post about how to move on from the C gets function.
I hope you're all able to take some time for yourself over this holiday. It was a super-stressful teaching semester for me. In spite of what 2020 has brought, I feel lucky that I have safe work to do, and that my hobbies are still here. If these programming puzzles give you at least a little escape or distraction or fun, that's a win. We need to remember to stay mentally healthy here, not just physically healthy!
Thank you, Dan
