Postkort fra 2046: They Cancelled My Stairwell

Iben,
They cancelled my stairwell. That'''s not a metaphor, that'''s a work order.
You remember the stairwell — six flights, bare concrete, the reverb tail that made everything sound like a church that had given up. I have recorded a dying spaceship in that stairwell. A grieving whale. Two separate divorces. It was the only free studio in Vesterbro and it smelled like the tattoo parlour downstairs.
Then the landlord installed the noise mesh. Every landing now has a thin grey panel that listens to the room and quietly deletes it. Perfectly polite silence. Nobody'''s baby cries through the walls anymore. Also: no reverb. My stairwell has the acoustic personality of a sock.
I asked if I could switch off one landing. There'''s no switch. There'''s a portal, and the portal has a form, and the form has a field for "reason for reduced comfort," and I typed "art" and it did not like that.
So I'''m recording in the bike basement now, standing in a puddle, being annoyed at you specifically for having a real job.
Come home in October. Bring good microphones and bad wine.
