Postkort fra 2045: The Tool Commons

The Tool Commons network hit five hundred branches last week. Every neighborhood has one now — open shelves, no paperwork, just borrow what you need and bring it back.
Needed a tile saw for the bathroom. Walked three blocks, grabbed it, finished in an afternoon, returned it the next morning. Someone else has it now.
Started with a guy in Nørrebro lending his drill through a Facebook post. City council tried to regulate it, gave up, funded it instead. Now there's everything: bread makers, circular saws, camping gear, 3D printers, even a cement mixer in Vesterbro that's booked three months out.
Lars complained it would never work because people don't return things. His hedge trimmer has been borrowed forty-seven times. He checks the app daily to see who has it.
Turns out most people only need a power drill twice a year. The rest of the time it just sits there.
Not anymore.
