Postkort fra 2045: The Sweeper Needs to Sound Honest

Iben,
You will not believe the gig. The Kommune hired me — actual money, actual invoice — to make a street-sweeper robot sound more trustworthy. Those are the words in the brief. "Residents report the unit feels sneaky." It's a fridge on wheels, Iben. It cannot be sneaky. It has one job and it does it at 4am, which is the whole problem.
So now I'm above the tattoo parlour with forty seconds of motor whine, trying to add — what — honesty? I layered in a little descending hum, like it's clearing its throat before it works. Played it for the guy downstairs between clients and he said it sounded "like it means well." Billable. That's the review I'm putting on my portfolio: means well.
Meanwhile my rent went up again and the landlord's AI keeps emailing me in a tone it clearly thinks is friendly. Maybe I should design that a better voice too, for free, out of spite.
I miss you. Berlin better be sending you weirder work than trustworthy garbage machines. It probably is. it's 1am and I still owe them stereo.
come home for a weekend. bring cheap wine.
