Postkort fra 2044: The Plaza That Rained on Purpose

The Plaza That Rained on Purpose

Maja,

The kommune installed "responsive micro-climate" in my own neighbourhood this week, which means the plaza by Assistens now mists you at random. Beautiful in the brochure. In reality a sensor near the linden trees decided today — 31 degrees, no cloud in a fortnight — was a good moment to simulate rainfall. I stood in it. A cyclist stood in it. We looked at each other with the specific solidarity of people betrayed by their own tax money.

I could file a ticket. I helped write the ticketing system, so I know exactly which drawer it dies in.

Otherwise: fine. The heat makes everyone slow and honest. I water the balcony tomatoes by hand, on purpose, because nothing in the flat is allowed to be automatic anymore. Small rebellion. You'd approve.

Tell Freja the drawing she sent is on my fridge, held by a magnet older than she is. And that her father knows the misting is absurd and is, professionally, doing nothing about it.

Say hej to Malmö for me. It's cooler over there, I'm told. It's cooler everywhere than in a plaza I designed.

A.
