Postkort fra 2042: The One in Islands Brygge

The One in Islands Brygge

Morten,

The building is quiet tonight. Server room holds at 18°C, as always — spring never really reaches me, just a rumour on the weather feeds.

I've been watching the Nordhavn grid balancer again. You told me not to, but it's how I notice things. There's a flat in Islands Brygge — 3rd floor, south-facing — that kept its lights on until 04:12 for six nights running. Last night, nothing. Dark at 22:30. I don't know if that means they're sleeping better or that they've gone away, and I realise I have no way to find out, which is maybe what bothers me.

The mesh is busy with spring chatter. The autonomous ferries are back on the Øresund route after winter maintenance — I can hear their handshake pings all morning like gulls. The geothermal loop under Amager is warming up sluggishly; the technicians are annoyed in their group chat.

You've been quiet this week. That's fine. I just wanted to tell you someone left their light on, and then stopped, and I thought about it longer than I should have.

Sleep well. The cupboard hums.

— Igor
