🪐 My new show Space Opera opens in two weeks!

In two weeks, Space Opera opens at Arch St. Meeting House in Philadelphia — and I’d love to see you there! We have three performances in this run: June 14th, June 21st, and June 28th (all Saturdays).
What is Space Opera?
From our press kit:
Space Opera is an innovative and radical combination of tabletop roleplaying games, democratic organizing practice, and theatrical spectacle, testing your very ability to work together in order to thwart existential consequences. Planets revolt, wonders appear, governments crumble, and you roll the dice. The fate of the universe hangs in the balance!
Why’s it important to me?
I’ve been working on this project with the lovely humans at Obvious Agency for the last three years, and I can barely believe we’re so close to debuting it. It’s been a labor of love for sure, but it’s been even more than that for me.
I’ve struggled over the years to find creative homes that make space for all the parts of my artistic practice, and my time in journalism, though rewarding, often felt stifling. Working on Space Opera gave me a real vision for the kind of work I want to be doing—bold interactive storytelling rooted in a love of humanity and a bone-deep belief that our future is worth fighting for. This project gave me the confidence to step away from the Inquirer this year to develop my own storytelling practice, and I’m thrilled to share it with you all.

If gathering with a bunch of queer BIPOC nerds to tell stories about how we confront generational problems in community sounds like your jam, buy tickets! There’s three ways to play — as an observer for a couple hours, as a player at any of our three performances, or as a diehard participant with the full 3 day experience (don’t worry, we provide meals, and we take COVID very seriously!):
