🌲 December Dispatch: On Firsts, Funds, and Family
🔮 Futurefull’s First!
No need bury the lede — we threw Futurefull’s first public event during PAX Unplugged!

We were able to provide a forum for an incredible panel of queer BIPOC creators in the TTRPG space to be honest and hopeful in a way that isn’t usually afforded to them. Many thanks to Justin, Queon, Calamity, and Candace for sharing their stories!

Then, we gathered everyone to play through Olamina — a game of long-form, communal storytelling built with dice and song. We were joined by Karen Smith and Alejandro Utria, incredible percussionists who lent their talents to the circle and... I think I’m going to be creating, playing, and learning about this game for the rest of my life. Every time we get in the circle we discover new things, and I’m excited to find more excuses to run this in the new year.

After the event, I crashed the hotel lobby at PAX and got a chance to get feedback from people who came through:
For our panel:
“This was a conversation I needed to hear.”
“I’ve shared tables with these folks and never realized how much they had been through.”
“I would never have heard that level of candor at PAX.”
“Thank you for helping make this conversation possible!”
For Olamina:
“I’m a former theater kid, and I’ve never been able to blend that love of singing with my love of TTRPGs like that.”
“The lighting, the music, the projections! Everything felt so good and I can’t wait to see where you take it next.”
“I’ve been missing the feeling of community I used to get from church, and Olamina gave me a small piece of that.”
I don’t talk about it a lot, but for as much as love being in community, throwing events causes me a truly catastrophic amount of social anxiety — I’m always worried about fucking it up, doing it wrong. So to have the response be this positive really warms my heart. And knowing I have the support of such a great team makes me truly excited for 2026. I can’t wait to roll the dice and see.
💸 Finding Funding
We’re gearing up for an exciting 2026. To that end, if you know of any art, culture, or small business grants we should be applying for, do me a solid and let me know!
🇯🇲 Family Foundation
One more thing — if you didn’t know, Jamaica got hit by a Category 5 hurricane in October, and our island is still rebuilding. When my grandparents passed, my family started a foundation in their honor; that same foundation is now raising funds to aid in rebuilding efforts back home. If you have anything to spare, please consider making a contribution.
