Elevated (Round 2) April 17
Elevated (Round 2), April 17, 2023
I gave the first run of my “Elevated” course earlier this week. Many thanks to everyone who attended, survived, and offered feedback–which was mixed, but quite useful.
One of my main interests with respect to this course relates to the process of problem solving. How do you break down a problem into parts? How do manage complexity? How do you decide what’s important and what’s not important? How do you test it?
From a teaching perspective, it’s always a bit of a delicate balance. Should I try to simplify the problem as much as possible to ensure total success? Or should I just unleash a pack of wolves to chase everyone into a pool of sharks? Personally, I tend to have a preference for the latter because it often leads to more interesting outcomes. However, it’s often difficult to know how many wolves and sharks to unleash.
Anyways, I’m always making iterative changes to courses. So, I’m making a few adjustments to the wildlife and offering the course again on April 17. If you’d like to join me, details can be found at Elevated.
Cheers,
Dave
