DARK CLUB lineup and other Sandwiches

Hello friends!
It is a sweetly dreary day here in Welly, misty rain and quiet streets. A good time to put on a record and be wistful — or if you are like me and don’t have a turntable, to put on a youtube video of a record that you watch spin and feel a nice, but more removed sort of wistful.
However, that’s the feeling of today. What I want to talk to you about is next week… and the feeling next week is going to be rambunctious, dark, electric and fun! Because next week is TGF: DARK CLUB 004.
at DARK CLUB 004, six of Poneke’s darkest DJs are taking over Cyberdoof and bringing you a cybernetic techno beat in a custom made party space (as is the Cyberdoof specialty). Come and hear sets from:

For this event, the venue they’ve chosen is one of my favourite hangouts growing up: the video game arcade. You could say it is “less wist, more wrist”. But you don’t have to! What I will say is that this doof arcade will be, through the power of digital magic, GIGANTIC. Bionical, the wizard, has built an impressive, immersive arcade experience you may literally get lost in. I will not give too much away here, but if you have ever wanted to be one of the dots that Pac-Man got to eat, we have made an experience uniquely suited for you.
(Personally, my favourite arcade game was Ladybug. I liked her bright colours. I liked being chased by the bugs. I did not want to be eaten by the bugs, I wanted to hold them in my hand.)

Run Along Forever , in the summertime, makes Milwaukee look like a wonderland. I love all the videos taking place on commonstreets and parks, in unfurnished apartments, on shitty lime scooters with geese wandering about...but, still, everyone is dancing and beautiful. the city itself is dancing and beautiful!!

What are they saying? it is all vowels, spoken through a beautiful glowing wall! But the vowels make me wanna DANCE. And this song has a fuzz that feels so good, like when the barber trims the back of your neck with their smaller clippers. It is a vibrating neck shave you can, and will, dance to!!!

BUT I DON’T JUST DANCE! Sometimes I go to the top of Mt. Victoria, just before sunrise, and lay in the grass looking up while I contemplate existence. And when I do that I always bring two things: cool water and this warm song.
Gene Richards Jr. - Broken
I like this techno track from Gene Richards Jr. cos the sample sounds like the robot lady on the train telling you your stop is coming up. But I cannot make out what stop she’s announcing, cos it’s a train in a city I never been to, a city where we are all dancing and dancing HARD.

Luci Gang (ft. HYOI) - Type Shi
BOOF is ALL IN ON LUCI GANG. This song is catchy and bouncy and fun, but I just love this video. I love the brief was, “what if we got dressed up to look cool as hell and then went to Pak n’ Save (local equivalent)”. Rapping about being the best in the game in a fisheye lens mounted to your grocery cart while you show off the Korean snacks you are getting with yr best friend. You can’t get better.
Gidget’s Updates
I have recently acquired a small ereader with easy hacking abilities and a vibrant community. I have been working on making a custom screensaver that I am extremely excited to tell folks about, but it is not within the brief of this corner, according to Beatrice.
Unfortunately, on the Doof side I’m working on even cooler and more secret stuff! You will see the results next week! So unless you want to hear about a windows 95 themed e-ink screensaver written in Zig, I will stay quiet this week!
