We are thrilled that the Emma Rawicz Trio is coming to Cwmdu - a real coup for us.  At just 24 years old, band leader Emma, a Devon-born jazz saxophonist is “the name is on everyone’s lips right now” (Julian Joseph, BBC Radio 3).

Emma is one of the BBC’s prestigious New Generation Artists and has already released four acclaimed albums and headlined major tours across 15 countries including sell-out gigs with the BBC Concert Orchestra and at the Berlin Philharmonie, no less.

Her signing to the major jazz recording label ACT represented a big step forward in her international career, particularly with the 2023 release of her label debut album Chroma, the Big Visit duo album with Gwilym Simcock in March 2025 , followed by INKYRA in October 2025; all of them acclaimed by jazz lovers and critics alike.

Emma’s friends and trio bandmates Niklas Lukassen (bass) and Jonny Mansfield (vibraphone) are no less impressive. Niklas Lukassen plays the upright bass, the bass guitar and his unique bass cello – the full bass family! Niklas has accompanied reowned artists Kurt Rosenwinkel, Joe Lovano, Mike Stern and Jorge Rossy and has toured extensively throughout Europe, the UK, North America, Asia and North Africa.

Jonny Mansfield is an award-winning vibraphonist, composer, and educator whose music has earned international recognition for its creativity and depth. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, where he received the prestigious Kenny Wheeler Jazz Prize, Jonny has built a career at the forefront of contemporary jazz.

Jonny has appeared on some of the world’s most renowned stages, from the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, and Ronnie Scott’s, to international festivals and venues including Bimhuis (Amsterdam), SXSW (Austin), Nublu Classic (New York), and the Verbier Festival. His playing can also be heard on film and media soundtracks such as Netflix’s The Laundromat.
