Friends of Cwmdu Music–bonus concert, Sunday 27th October
Our final concert of the year will be on the afternoon of Sunday 27th October, 3pm at St Michael and All Angels Church, Cwmdu, NP8 1RW.
This is the event rescheduled from July, with Claire Victoria Roberts and Treske Quartet with Jacob Savage (keyboards).
“A perfect cocktail of lyrical jazz”
This concert features award-winning musician Claire Victoria Roberts and Treske Quartet with Jacob Savage on keyboards. The afternoon event will explore a blend of folk and jazz traditions, from French chanson to Bossa Nova and the American Songbook.
Claire is a composer, vocalist and violinist, and collaborates with musicians from classical, folk and jazz spheres, drawing upon her diverse influences and melding styles together through improvised vocals, contemporary classical timbres and melody-driven compositions. A Welsh-born artist Claire has performed at jazz festivals in both the UK and Europe. She has won many national awards, including the Welsh Music Guild’s Young Composer and a Royal Philharmonic Composition Prize, and has been broadcast on Radio 3 and Radio Wales. We’re delighted to bring her to Cwmdu!
The Treske Quartet was formed in 2017 for a chamber music course in North Yorkshire, and we still play an active role in delivering high quality chamber music in the area. Over the past two years the quartet has given recitals in the UK and abroad, notably the Rydale Festival, Llandeilo International Music Festival, Buxton Recital Series and the New Generation Festival. The Quartet’s members consist of Oliver Baily, Mollie Wrafter, Abigail Hammett and Robert Wheatley, all of whom studied at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Jacob Savage started playing piano aged five. At seventeen he was accepted into Leeds College of Music (now Leeds Conservatoire) to study composition. Most recently he was appointed there as a lecturer and Musical Director on the new Musical Theatre Degree Course.
