Hello happy Thursday. Would you believe I've been some form of sick since the 3rd? I am so sick of sniffles and being tired!
I've truly been reading some
absolute garbage. I quit three books, including one I was super excited for. I finished two books that were not great! And one was really kind of a horror story about what it's like to be a woman married with a husband who has to be told what to do - except in was a non-fiction advice guide (hello there,
Fair Play)! I was tempted to be all dramatic and recount that book, but honestly? I don't want to.
So after me screaming about reading and consuming so many bad things, a friend encouraged me to check out books that I already knew I loved so I could remember how much I loved them. So I picked
Lost Boy: The True Story of Captain Hook back up and I forgot how much I love this. I already talked about it eons ago, but it's just dark. Peter is so ...innocently malicious, which makes it feel in line with the Peter Pan I grew up. And rereading it, I got to pick up the small ways Jamie (hem hem, James) manages to grow more frustrated with Peter as well as actually grows... dun dun dun. It's a quite read (even if there's a
lot more death then I remember), but a great book.
But also? I decided to replay
Kingdom Hearts. "Brieana you talk about that game SO MUCH" yeah I know, but it's been years since I've replayed it and I had a save file that was on the first world and was level 15 (the score is 24-1 Riku, you can BITE me). And I always am so delighted when I play it because this game is so wonderful - the story is delightful. Sora is so sweet, and I love the character interactions. I've literally already did a whole
newsletter on KH but that was the series overall and KH1 is my baby!!
Anyway, hope you're all doing well this with this weird weather!
- A concept album about Greek mythology? I am but a simple fool who loves Greek Mythology. Not going to lie, I was going to listen to the whole thing and I did not! I have been listening to Warrior of the Mind about 300 times however, which is Odysseus and Athena convering about... pre- Trojan War. So idk what it's fully about but the tiktok girlies are in love with it.
- So I was talking to a friend about many things that we do to put on background noise in our lives (I have SO many recommendations it's not even funny), but then I realized I absolute lovely the youtube channel Honeyjubu. It's not even background noise, it's ...comforting? It's a woman in South Korea who cleans her home and cooks but also you never see her face or hear her - all the "dialogue" is from subtitles. Her dog is SO cute and her house is SO lovely and it's just so comforting watching her clean! Also make sure you have English subtitles on, unless you can read Korean!
- An author I like posted about the Vanity Fair Article where they interview Channing Tatum and you know what? What in the christ. This is why I write this newsletter, so people can endure with me. He's so fascinating as a human being but also multifaceted but also is writing a romance book alongside Roxane Gay but also is into pottery??? Goodness. Or should I say, tee hee.
Also I've sent 90% of you this image but I cannot stop thinking about it so I'm sending it. Have a great weekend!
