Hello friends and welcome to Thursday! I am so exhausted. The Thursday before a holiday weekend which marks the end of summer is truly a *choice*, and one I refuse to acknowledge. What hilarity. Not to quote tiktok but I was not born to work, I was born to ... *checks hands* read books and scream about why they are terrible into the void? Well, that is truly a choice.
Anyway, it's warm-ish outside, and I'm hoping you're using your last few days of August to enjoy yourself, whether you're hitting the beach, finishing the NetGalley books you were supposed to finish months ago, catching up on sleep, television, what have you. What matters is that you don't think about work this entire long weekend because if you do? They win. Who is they? 👀 👀 👀
Wait a second, it's September! We're not even in August anymore!! I clearly meant last few days of summer but summer isn't over until the 21st so what is the truth??
Another short one, but may you enjoy this weekend, and may nothing randomly surprise you when you go back to work. Nothing. Nothing at all. Nothing like my week...

- Here's a fascinating article about why online shopping is so addicting. Now me, personally, I need to touch everything in a store at least six times before deciding to purchase, but I can't deny the feeling you get when you see a huge sale and you're like "do I need this... or is it just on sale?"
- I recently finished a book called The Death of Vivek Oji and if I'm going to be honest, this book was something I would've never picked up. But I heard so many amazing things about the author that I decided to give it a chance and check it out, and fam - this was such a beautiful, heart-wrenching story. Gosh, it made it so sad because it was so ..beautiful? And so upsetting and also really well written. I heard someone describe it as a murder mystery which, I mean, it is kind of because you're trying to figure out about the death of Vivek Oji but like, that completely sends the wrong tone. It's really a story about grief and what we do to try and protect ourselves from this hellscape of a world.
- As we go into the best season EVER (fall), I was reminded about Christmas! Particularly, Christmas trees and how fast they can burn! As someone who grew up with fake trees, I had no idea you had to water a real one and also holy SHIT they burn fast!! Here's a video of one burning down a room in under 40 seconds!!
As I said earlier, hope you all have a wonderful, productive/stressless/restful weekend! Also I learned how to cook pork bacon, and it was truly delicious. :)
