*sprinting to the finish line with no excuses and bad book recommendations*
Hello humans and we have made it to Thursday!!! My god, the month of December, like I said last newsletter, is supposed to be the glorious "we should circle back" season, while actual circle back season is January and is a hellscape, so why are people circling back now??? Crime.
How we doing? We okay? we can only do the best we can and by we i mean ME. Just kidding, I hope y'all are doing well.
(Side note, I saw the latest Miyazaki film and I have thoughts that I feel unfair to shove into a newsletter but if you want to see it/have seen it, please reach out because I have many.)
I uh... forgot about this newsletter. Can you tell this is sometimes written in many steps? But yeah! It's almost 11pm on Thursday EST and I had a wild day that includes a book announcement (not mine lmao), dinner with a lovely lovely friend, and also we broke into a corporate holiday party accidentally and got free stuff before we got thrown out??? Alas!
I won't go too far into my thoughts for this week, but if you haven't heard of the latest book drama, a white woman (essentially) made up a goodreads accounts to give bad reviews to a lot of other debuts, primarily WOC authors. And I joked with some friends as to how she fumbled the bag so badly that it was an art, but like... how are you given so much and still want to destroy your life? I can't stop thinking about it and I kind of wish I could!
Anyway! Onto recs. (Also apologies for anyone who got a newsletter last week and was like "The Void???" I forgot to change... who the email came from).
"Brieana, goddammit, what D&D thing will you send today?" Wow, how did you know as I literally looked this up BUT since you asked, the third season trailer of Fantasy High over on DropOut.Tv dropped! Fantasy High is essentially... the breakfast club with D&D and is the longest "campaign/story" from Dimension 20 and I had fun with season 1! But season 2 was emotionally devastating and I loved it so much and I'm so excited for the next!
Do you use notion*? Did you know they have templates that people offer for free??? If I had known about this a year ago, I could've saved SO much energy on building my own shitty one!
*notion is a ...uh. database website that I use for tracking many things in my life. IdkAs someone who just realized that the timer she bought was pissing her off and that half the stuff she has bought is straight junk (thanks tiktok), I have been using a lot of timer/lofi beats youtube videos and I found this lovely one that overlooks Big Ben and Westminster Abbey and is just nice.
Extra one that I'm not going to deep dive - Netflix released data from January-June 2023 and it's fascinating. I knew The Glory was huge (a kdrama I'm too much of a wimp to watch) but it's MASSIVE. The article has the basic information but you can download the excel file and when I have more time, I will comb through it.
Anyway, yeah I'm late but I hope you have a lovely evening (OR REST OF) and I'll chat with you later! Bye!
