sometimes it feels like we're only here to write emails and make memes
First off, hello to everyone and thank you for tolerating me sending out newsletters randomly! Still learning this tool, and I appreciate your patience! <3
Originally, I had an idea, a great idea, of what to start this newsletter about, but then my beautiful Kingdom Hearts son Sora suddenly became the final addition to Super Smash Bros on Tuesday, and really, who cares about anything else?? It was all absolute chaos! It was glorious. Who needs coherence when you can have Mario shaking Sora's hand in a realm where Donald Duck and Goofy can't exist because Disney would flip?? The only reason why we millennials work so hard is so we can afford more Kingdom Hearts.

Oh yeah, there's more to the newsletter than just Kingdom Hearts. AHEM.
Well, we almost made it through another week. How we all do? I, personally, am exhausted. Someone! Sent me! Twenty emails in the span of thirty minutes! What a nightmare! But unfortunately, capitalism soldiers on, and things must be marketed and sold. Idk why, especially as everything is in short supply: products, my will to deal with this shit, and more.
But as we enter further into ~spooky season~ I always have a great desire to consume things that start to inch into horror. Not true horror, because I am a wimp, but anything with a good bite of creep. A bit terrifying. I guess the television show You technically fits under there, but I'm assuming most people already watch that.
Stay spooky my friends, and have a great weekend!

- Book rec: Anything by Christina Henry. Back in 2017, I was on a plane (remember when we could do that) and needed anything to read. A few days earlier, I had stumbled across this art post that intrigued me and when I saw the book Lost Boy, I was like hey. Maybe I'll check it out. And fam! This book! It's a retelling how Captain Hook met Peter Pan, who I've always considered a little monster, with an unnerving twist. And to me this book was just so perfect!!!! PETER IS CREEPY AND I HATE HIM and for that, I love this book!! I could just recommend it as it is my favorite of hers, but she does the creepiest retellings of well known fairytales with incredibly unique twists. You think they're going to go one way, but they somehow end up being even weirder. Her Alice series (a ...sort of retelling of Alice in Wonderland) are also SO twisty but such a terrifying little delight, as well as her recently released Horseman book (a retelling of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow). I'm sure her other books are amazing too, but if you want to read a familiar tale and also want to be terrified and a little hooked, you should definitely check her writing out. (get it? Hooked? Cause Lost Boy is about..... Captain.....Hook... I'll see myself out.)
- Looking for something to watch and maybe have eight hours to consume something? Well, if you're a fan of table top RPG games or WANT to be *wink*, check out Undeadwood. Whether you know the name Critical Role or not, this short series is a true delight for fans new and old. Despite sitting around a table, it's shot much more like a television show, with actor close-ups and reaction shots. It follows a group of five newcomers to the town Deadwood, all of whom have mysterious pasts, having to deal with strange things happening in an old western town. It's short enough to not be as overwhelming as the main Critical Role campaigns, it's fun, filled with voice actors that you might recognize (for example Khary Payton was Cyborg on Teen Titans [the animated series] and Travis Willingham was Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist!), and the story is damn touching. Didn't expect to, but I teared up at the end.
- Not a spooky rec, BUT if you know me, you know I love watching house tours (despite you know. *hand waves the entire economy*) but two really excellent ones just dropped - Nina Dobrev and Kirsten Dunst. If you want to see a small (for Hollywood at least) house with some fun decorations, a kickass kitchen, and a beautiful backyard, go watch Nina's. If you want to open a video with someone ranting about open concepts and the desire to shut a door, check out Kirsten's. Both are incredibly beautiful houses (that I'll never be able to afford lmao) but both also feel... lived in. If you watch too many house tours, you'll know the feeling where it looks more like a museum than a place someone occupies and I would be super happy living in either house. ...They wouldn't be...with me suddenly living there, but! They'd learn to love me.
Stay spooky my friends, and have a great weekend!
