Let's try this out one more time...
Hello! Happy Thursday. What a crazy week, I've only been working the last two days (well, three by the time you get this) and I'm tired. It would be easy to be like "work has been awful and I'm exhausted" but as everyone who has been forced to recieve multiple 4am memes from me, uh, it's the jet lag! This was the first morning all week I did not wake up at 4am, but that was probably due to the fact that I passed out at 2am! Baby steps.
How are we doing? Is anyone really in Circle Back Season, my favorite season of the year? It feels like everyone circled back immediately after Thanksgiving, ruining truly my favorite time! We need an entire month to stop thinking, even if the corporate overloads don't agree!
I mentioned in the last newsletter that TinyLetter is closing which is, truly, very sad. I've been playing around with a few other (in fact, writing in one) but since it's still so new to me, it might not actually be sent from this one. But eventually I will transition over - starting with this one apparently! We testing things out okay, just go with the flow.
Speaking of change, I was chatting with a friend yesterday about the seasons of friendships. And how it can be really sad when people go in and out of your life, even through natural things of not seeing each other as much anymore (like this hilarious but sad IG Reel about work friends). And well. I have more to say about this and I should just cut the cord but maybe not this email. Maybe the next. Maybe next year. Hm.
...Onto recommendations!!!
I stumbled into watching the Variety Actors on Actors and I've gotten halfway through the Emily Blunt & Anne Hathaway one and it was so delightful. I love that they've been friends since Devil Wears Prada (which was 18 years ago???) but it's such a lovely conversation. There's also a convo between Cillian Murphy & Margot Robbie and Robert Downey Jr. & Mark Ruffalo and I love that they have paired people who worked together and/or the fun Barbieheimer competitors! So delightful.
IDK about you but especially with this season, I've fallen into shopping culture so hard. Like, it's little treat season and social media makes it so easy to want and see every little possible treat. This is a video between the creator of The Financial Diet and .. who talk about how the latter escaped the mindless shopping culture and it was a great watch!
The GoodReads choice awards are in and there are no surprises and also ...not a lot of winners in my book!!! Shocker. It's very white and very disappointing. But I wish I could say I have a great book to recommend you but I truly only read ONE BOOK on vacation! And buddy, I simply cannot recommend it, it was so bad! But ...uh... Anne Helen Petersen has a new podcast and they talk about how cheap clothing has become??? There we go.
Anyway, hope your circle back season is more fulfilling than mine, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend. :)
