Happy Thursday!
Did I not write last week because I fell into the imperceptive void and simply couldn't write or did I realize it was 11:30pm and I hadn't and I had no recommendations? Up to you! :)
Last week was a very frustrating week of realizing why some people are not to be trusted, no matter how long you've known them, and this week was a very lovely week of people who have had my back with very little, if any, prompting. So. :)
Side note -- if you need to not sleep for like seven years, try one of the Shake Shack caffeinated lemonades!!! They're delicious, and my dumbass thought it said carbonated so I had one at a 6pm dinner. At 8pm that night, I could see through the third eye, and at 3am I was working on a story I've been trying to get words onto paper, and I could only start to attempt to fall asleep at 4am! And I didn't actually hit a caffeine crash until 10am so ...if you need to stay awake for eons, this is the thing for you!!!
Anyway, I'm going to jump into the recs today because I don't feel like doing much else! Also I'm going to turn ...another age in like 5 days, and I'm not going to think about that!!!
- Merrily We Roll Along is a recent (ish) Broadway version of the Stephen Sondheim musical. Ironically, I watched the documentary about the original Broadway run, with no context to the show at all. But years ago, I saw DanRad in The Lifespan of a Fact and he was incredible, so I happened to buy really well priced tickets on a random Monday so I was seven rows from the front! Close enough to be able to lock eyes with the cast, but far away enough that Jonathan Groff didn't spit on me (though... you could see it.... everywhere). And what a show!!! Wow, it was so incredible. I didn't know the plot, or the way it was told (it's backwards to front!), and it ended up being such a sad story but since it ends at the beginning, it was SO hopeful! Really a delightful show and I hope y'all get a chance to see it before it ends! (Also here's a NYT article about it!)
- Speaking of hopeful but also sad in retrospect things, I read a Nora Ephron book I Feel Bad About My Neck (or well, listened to the audiobook), and it was amazing. I truly laughed so much (and then I had to remind people that you should always bring your lotion/moisturizer down to your neck and hands?? Do it!!), but there was a final essay about despite being old, she didn't want to just like, die yet because she had so much life to live. ...Which is a weird thing to listen to her say approximately 11 years after she passed. But it was really funny, pretty short, and I think, a good read.
- So I don't know if you heard about the BEDBUG situation Paris where they are on the SUBWAYS (which HAUNTS me and I was about to buy tickets to Paris and I'm still screaming!!!! I'm not sending a link because I refuse!!!!), but instead, I'm going to send a video about the differences in the Tokyo Subway system and the New York Subway system. Basically, one they've been updating for the last 60 years, and one, well, is the New York Subway System. It's an interesting watch!
(Final
video - interesting "look" at is the Forbes 30 Under 30 a scam? It's also a parody account so lol
also!
Airline boarding inefficiency!)
Anyway! Like I said, I'm going to turn
old soon, but I hope y'all have a great weekend!
