It's a gloomy, gloomy, Thursday
Sorry about last week - I got sick and it was bad enough that I couldn't leave my bed for about 36 hours.
It's funny because I also already knew what I was going to write (which is going to be below), but also as I was sick and fretting about not getting a newsletter out (and ruining my rings for my apple watch and therefore making it so I will not have a perfect week or month :( ), I realized how much (or well, how little), I actually talk about the day to day of my life.
Not the technicalities - no one wants that. But like, the amount of times I've said "it's been a week!" and that week could range from having to answer more than five emails a day (truly a crime) to having complete breakdowns on the regular. And it's lovely that no one knows.
Idk. Clearly I had a lot of time to think (because even listening to an audiobook made everything worse!).
Anyway, as some of you know from Instagram, I randomly was featured in a company's video also featuring a ...low rent Simon from Bridgerton. Now, we already discussed "low-rent" (ie, when they kind of look like the actor in question but are no where near them), but how did I have that, along with a violinist show up at my doorstep?
Long story short, I won a contest for some flowers from a company called UrbanStems (which I discovered thanks to a lovely friend sending me a gift when I left my last company [thanks Miriam!]), and they warned me I would be filmed. If you watch the video, you'll see i'm barely in it, but it's hilarious because I think my entire expression was shocked/horrified/bewildered/confused the entire time the person was playing the violin in my hallway as I thought the following things:

- How did they get in my building?? (They did not buzz; instead I got a knock and a violin playing to which i said "oh fuck" quite loudly)
- Is my neighbor home because that violinist was shoved in his doorway and she wasn't exactly playing quietly?
- Is Simon as bored as he looks?
- How much did it cost to drive all these people from Midtown Manhattan to me??
- Wait how much did the violinist cost? Simon's outfit??
- Oh shit they are filming me
- Oh god they can see into my apartment
- oh god i can't hold these flowers and my phone why did I agree to this??
Why are these photos always to the side; I am simply cursed.
Recommendations:
- Anyone fans of D&D? A couple of Dungeon Masters I love reacted to the trailer for the new movie and really added new light to things I thought were just "comedy bits" but were pretty accurate for the came.
- I have no idea how I stumbled into this (I think it was when I was sick), but this was one of the Producers of This American Life talking about how she had only seen the first half of The Sound Of Music. I've never seen the film, but I knew it has a giant field and Nazis and that's about it, and she knew about one of those. Really interesting listen.
- I recommended the book How To Keep The House While Drowning a while back, and the woman who wrote it did a TedTalk titled "How to do laundry while depressed" and it's a nice condensed version of it. I really like the idea of chores are neutral and getting it done half assed it better than not done at all.
