Is a croissant a meal? Asking for a friend.
Pre-written Brie will be significantly less this time because you don't want Brieana of two weeks ago's thoughts! You want current thoughts. So let's see if I have any. (Omg I had so many sorry!)
But mostly I’m mad because I thought my walking strength was better but my legs!! Hurt!! As a New Yorker I am offended but post Covid I’m doing maybe three miles a day. I think on my slowest day here I did 8 miles while hitting 13-15 normally. To quote a Disney movie, we gotta kick it up!
Like Brie of the past said there is so much to chat about!!! Idk how much I want to get into the holiday sadness (sometimes being alone around so many Christmas things eventually gets to you!) but I will say that I was like thiiiiis close to crying on the streets of Paris (okay. Lies I was crying), and then the Eiffel Tower kept popping into view and it pissed me off enough that, despite being exhausted, I went to check it out, and it was beautiful. I sent a video to my mom (you try to explain WhatsApp to a woman who refuses to understand social media but I did it!) and she said that it used to glitter like it had when she was in Paris 40+ years ago so that was nice.
But trip wise I’m having fun and also forcing myself to examine what it means to relax. Between sitting in a small bookstore or chilling at the steps of Norte Dame and just breathing. I’ve also done quite a lot of tours where I’ve made a few friends, ate great food (really!) and generally have had a nice time. Too much to type because this is already so long!
Following the footsteps of a friend Melissa (who, thank you again for sending me your rec list!), I’ve been bringing my journal with me as I walk and it’s nice to write my reflections and force myself to slow down.
Actually cause people like shout outs:
- Dani- thank you for the sporadic call as you were walking to a dinner to breakdown your London recommendations!!! Before that call my London plan was ???? Profit! So I appreciate it so much.
- Maysam - lmao thank you for the France recommendations and also bullying me to go check out the Tower of London. Longest walking day but def one of the coolest!
- Chris - many reasons but also thanks for enduring me screaming over accidentally deleting my esim as well as introducing me to your friend!
- Rachel for hyping up what I’m doing even while I’m like “:/ I’m just eating a crepe in Paris by the Arc du Triomphe this is silly”
- Emily for checking in and keeping me sane!
- Ameela cause your silly Brie in Paris jokes are silly but were definitely in the back of my mind while forcing myself to walk another two miles to get there and back from the Eiffel Tower
- Megan for the National Gallery Rec and helping me find one of my new favorite art pieces!
And probably more!!! Oh gosh is this how the Oscars feel!?? I’m so stressed!!! You’re all great!!!
(Also side note - I’ve been deleting my emails daily cause I’ve been getting around 39 a day for promotions. Stores - this is insane. )
Also a side note for you reading this far, if you’ve enjoyed the newsletter or liked the links, grab them while you can! TinyLetter is closing in February! Which sucks! Because all the links reroute via them! I’m debating if I’ll move the newsletter to a meeting platform or just say “so long and thanks for all the fish!” But either way, if you’ve enjoyed what I’ve sent, make sure you grab the links or memes. The words will still be there but the links won’t. Sad day.
Anyway, I have to uh, pack for my trip back to London tomorrow where maybe I’ll walk under eight miles for once! We can only hope.
With that out of the way, onto some recommendations.
- Looking to get caught up on One Piece before, idk, the end of time? I found this where it's the first 12 volumes online for free! And legal! I should emphasize legal. (At least I believe so and if yall drag me to court, I WILL ARGUE I THOUGHT IT WAS). But also - it's only 11.6% of the series so... if they get you hooked, you hooked!
- Oh you should check out this Youtuber. She's known for "what it's like to live a realistic life in NYC with a full time job" (though, spoilers, she just quit her job to go full time on Youtube), but she's fairly chill. Its fascinating to see people truly fascinated watching people live in New York. Like, the content is "I'm living here" and people are like more more!!! But she also seems lovely and this video is her running the NYC Marathon!
- And I'm leaving space for one recommendation from the last week: find an Airbnb that is so lovely you would almost rather stay in than ever leave! My France one makes breakfast on beautiful plates and has tea and a beautiful breakfast nook!! I love it!!
Have a great week and if you miss texting me, uh, email or text on 12/3. After 11am please, I will be SO tired.

Bye!
