Happy Thursday! Considering I'm sitting and watching my work laptop across the room, anticipating an angry response from someone, idk if I would truly say "happy," but the work day is officially over.
Whew what a week. First time in a while I did two days in office in a row and I have no idea how I used to do that (also I will say my commute was a solid 30 minutes shorter each way). I'm exhausted. To be fair, I also didn't have to carry a 300 pound laptop with me, but oof.
Normally I would be enjoying all the celebrity drama news about Taylor Swift's relationship but I'm bored. In 2016, the drama about Kim and Kanye leaking the audio about her being okay with certain things and then to the public admitting she had never heard about it was gold. GOLD I tell you. Goodness but I don't care about the current crop of gossip! And maybe that's just how the world is right now or maybe I'm too exhausted to care about celebrity gossip (I'm not), but give me better gossip!
Idk have some recs, I'm sleepy.
- There was an interesting article from Time that discussed how we're so much worse with sickness than originally anticipated. Like wow! We really will say fuck it and sneeze and cough in offices. Something is going around my company which makes sense considering no one wears masks in office and everyone is hacking and coughing like they were being paid to do so! Gross!
- Omg, a teaser trailer for NIMONA was released!!! I adore this comic - I started reading it back when two pages were updated bi-weekly to the website during CRITICAL part. If you haven't read it, I highly highly recommend. Also omg, I just realized they updated the cover to update the author's name! That's lovely.
- I recently finished two books and tbh they ranged from interesting to disappointing!
- Self Portrait With Nothing by Aimee Pokwatka - First of all, I thought this author was a woc, and when I started reading and was like wait a sec, I was bamboozled. Though I have no idea why - I thought that. I think I was confusing it for another book. But it tried to do multiverses in such a weird way, it took like 60% for the real plot to kick off and the writing frankly bored me. :/
- Traffic by Ben Smith - This was an interesting book that talked about the rise (and falls) of Buzzfeed and Gawker. Really interesting to see how behind the scenes stories played out for watching things on Buzzfeed happen in the front end (for example, wondering why there are so many fucking affiliate posts about shopping sprees on Buzzfeed now? The book has an answer), but I feel like it stayed in the past a little longer than I wanted and didn't get us to the now quick enough/keep us there. So much has happened and so much is happening and I wanted more in-depth about it. And while we got some, I wanted more
Anyway - I hope you have a lovely weekend. Gosh. Will I trek to Brooklyn for the
third weekend in a row? (Yes). Oh! I also got a new tattoo. Spontaneous tattoos are hilarious.
Also this image is for the person with whom I had a lovely conversation with and discovered what "shipping" was. I am not going into detail with you all, nor am I going into detail with that person. ...bye
