anyone want to take some books off my hands?
Good afternoon, friends! Welcome to the end of another week and we have made it! Almost! Idk about you, I have Summer Fridays, and if you don't, suffer!!
How we doing? We good? It's weird as the world falls apart and we're hitting beautiful summer weather (although with the insane rain storm this morning and the muggy weather today... ick!), but as much as I hate the sun, it's always so nice to have a chance to sit around and just enjoy the nature. Sometimes, when I'm outside... I even like... to read.
However - I'm... tired of books! I know, what a weird concept, but since I started in publishing, I have gotten this strange mentality that I need to read X amount of books per year or else, either for work, to understand the competition, to not be behind on the "cool books of the moment"... goodness!
I know earlier I had an entire newsletter about how I'm not great stopping a book in the middle, because of the effort the author put in, but as I was mentioning to a few friends, I want to spend an entire month not reading a single book! I can do that with movies, television shows, almost any other form of media, but I struggle to do that with books.
I also know that I drove myself into a corner by requesting approximately eight million books from NetGalley (and getting them!), being voluntold to co-lead a group where we have to read about 5 extra books a season, and working in an industry where I generally need to read books I work on... but whew! I just need to learn how to read only what I want, when I want. But until I figure that out... I just gotta stop reading!!! Full stop!
Do I even enjoy reading anymore or have I built it into a habit that I everyday, like my little walks? Either way, what a strange problem to have!
Anyway, moving on because I really am excited for these LINKS!!

- Freddie Prinze Jr, who most of us know through the iconic 1999's classic She's All That, and idk, the Scooby Doo movie, also has had an incredible career as a voice actor! (He also... worked with WWE, but I'm not going into that.) He's done a few Star Wars shows! So when I stumbled across his ranting about Star Wars, I had to step aside because this? Is poetry. I think my favorite line was something like "Fuck you guys! [Darth Maul] is Sisyphus! Learn your Greek Mythology like George fucking Lucas did!" and my good sir, I cackled in a way that my neighbors are probably used to and hate!!
- Franchesca Ramsey is SO COOL. She is an actress, activist, television and Youtube personality, comedian, and honesty, so many more things it's almost ridiculous! When she had locs, I grew out my hair with the thought that maybe I would get locs. She cut it, I was like hey! Maybe I'LL cut my hair! I first found her through her viral video "Shit White Girls Say... to Black Girls" back in 2012, and I've been watching her since. Including the past few years where she's been ramping up her apartment to look AMAZING with little home decor projects and not only did I notice, but so did Apartment Therapy, who did a home tour of her place! Everything about her apartment is goals -- I love the pops of color, the funky additions, the paint that is all over the place... ugh! Love it! So much!!!! Also proof that if you just do what you love and people will come because clearly! It is the truth
- This last bullet is dumb lmao, but Raputin is clearly the best song and this video with, uh, cats, is the best video for this song!!!
