Happy Thursday y'all. We're so close to the holiday, I can almost taste it. Sense it? Idk man, idk.
The world is truly bleak! I don't have positive things to ramble about! Apparently we're all going to get Covid no matter how much we tried to not get it! AUGHHH WHAT'S EVEN THE FUCKING POINT.
But it's almost the holidays so I'mma be cheesy and listen to my friend's recommendation and just talk about some of the traditions I had because it's either that or listen to my mother's CNN playing so loud that the bass shakes the house.
In terms of viewing experience, when I was younger, my brother and I used to watch this weird Christmas movie where there were dogs? And they played in a band? Wait oh gosh I found it -
Jingle Bell Rap. A movie about dogs who were in a band and one of them has an estranged dad?? Why was this a Christmas movie?? But here's the
opening. But the holidays did not START until we watched this movie. Christmas wasn't Christmas without an estranged family member!
Then of course you had the stop-motion Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer movie, which was cute, the Abominable Snowman stop motion (which was just... odd??). But one that has held a grip on my family for almost 30 years is a
Muppets' Christmas Carol.
Michael Caine acts so well and so seriously it's like, sir - you do realize you're acting with puppets? But there are so many great things about this movie and I shall list a few parts I really like because we need some joy in our lives:
- When the rats are cold and Michael Caine is like "how would they like to spend Christmas on the unemployment line!" and all the rats start dancing.
- When Rizzo (the rat) has to jump over a fence and then remembers he can fit through the bars to get his jellybeans and Gonzo (the... what the hell is Gonzo??) calls him an idiot.
- My mom's favorite part was the song from the ghost of Christmas Present.
- My dad's favorite part was the Marley and Marley song which I always liked the whOOOOOOOO at the end.
- One of my favorite parts was the terrifying Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come because yes, I was a weird child.
Whether you're watching some nostalgic Christmas movies, eating lots of good food, or just sitting in the void, staring and waiting for the end to come, I hope you have a lovely holiday season! Now -- onto the recs!
- Looking for more information on Kingdom Hearts? Well you're in luck because I was invited to the Fun and Games podcast where I rambled about the aformentioned best game in the world! It's like ten minutes but hey! It's me! Talking! Even more!
- I will admit, I didn't not finish this recommendation because it is almost nine hours long, but someone spent a fuck ton of time going through the top 100 Final Fantasy songs and wow. There's commentary for each song, and great videos as well. I could've listened to this in one work day, but there's legit so much to get from this video that if you're a fan of the series (or of good music!) that it also makes a great (if not extremely long!) watch.
- Idk man, check out this baby elephant who has no idea what to do with his trunk. It's adorable and I love him.
Stay safe y'all!
