Why Didn't You Just Leave fully funded! | Great reviews of No Trouble at All and Bitter Apples | Preview of Cursed Morsels 2024 releases

Why Didn’t You Just Leave is fully funded!

Fundraising is often the most intense and exhausting part of operating a press, but wow does it pay off! We’ve not only funded Why Didn’t You Just Leave, Julia Rios and Nadia Bulkin’s anthology of haunted house stories—we’ve also unlocked two of our stretch goals. The book will include two extra illustrations and two more stories.

Speaking of stories, the open submission period for the anthology has begun. If you’re a writer and want to shoot your shot with a ghost story, send it to us through our Moksha portal by the end of this month. We can’t wait to see which stories we’ll receive!

We still have a long way to go in the publishing process, but Why Didn’t You Just Leave will come out in spring 2024. If you missed the chance to back on Kickstarter, don’t worry—we’ll share pre-order links sometime in 2024.

Great reviews of No Trouble at All and Bitter Apples

This year, we’ve released two books—Bitter Apples (teacher horror stories written by teachers) and No Trouble at All (an anthology of polite horrors). I might be biased, but both are absolute bangers. If you don’t trust my word though, see what the reviewers are saying:

So, if you like books that feel like stress dreams or stories that deal with agency being wholly subsumed, check out these titles. You can pick them up and support the press directly through the Cursed Morsels store or anywhere books are sold.

Preview of Cursed Morsels 2024 releases

While I’ve only published anthologies through Cursed Morsels up until this point, I’m planning to publish two single-author short story collections starting in 2024. I’ve not yet accepted any manuscripts—that’ll happen this October—but my hope is to get horror collections that focus on Weird, queer, splattery, anti-capitalist, and/or anti-fascist elements. If you’re a writer who does that sort of thing, consider sending something in. More details can be found here.
