Upcoming ecological horrors and surveillance terrors
The Writhing, Verdant End - Coming this Winter
In late 2023, I reached out to Tiffany Morris (author of Green Fuse Burning) and Corey Farrenkopf (Living in Cemeteries and Haunted Ecologies) with an idea for a Weird eco-horror collection split between us three. Both Tiffany and Corey are stellar ecological fiction writers, so I was thrilled when both agreed to the project.
Now, two years later, our creative work has come to fruition with The Writhing, Verdant End. This book has an unusual structure, featuring four short stories, a novelette, and a novella, but every piece explores the awe, terror, and strangeness of our natural world in dire times.
In this book, you’ll find an ailing community traversing a chasm of nightmare animal amalgams to reach the lush paradise beyond; lovers in a plant apocalypse fighting for survival and searching for meaning in the face of immeasurable loss; and reunited friends resurrecting an extinct bird through grisly sacrifices that bring unexpected consequences.
The incredibly talented Lou-Ellen Allwood designed the cover for this book, and Alan Lastufka of Shortwave Publishing will soon design the typography. Here’s the tiniest preview of what’s to come:

Stay tuned for our next newsletter, which will feature a full cover reveal and preorder link for The Writhing, Verdant End!
Under a Malevolent Eye - Coming in Spring/Summer 2026
It’s been a while since I last edited an anthology, but once I get the itch, there’s no denying it. However, since anthologies are expensive, I decided to go the mini-anthology route this time (much like our previous teacher horror mini-antho Bitter Apples and several excellent Weirdpunk releases).
Since we live in an age of constant surveillance—by governments, political organizations, corporations, employers, neighbors, parents, teachers, peers, religious institutions, and more—I decided that would be the focus of the book. This theme also fits the press’s anti-capitalist, anti-fascist, and pro-queer ethos. I’ve invited some exceedingly talented writers to contribute their work, and the book has already started coalescing.
So far, I have stories from two spectacular talents who I’ve had the pleasure of publishing before: Joe Koch with a surreal, paranoid detective story of sorts and Briar Ripley Page with a tale of near-future workplace tech dystopia.
This project is still in its early stages, but keep an eye out for more announcements about it later this year.
Funding Cursed Morsels Press
As one last note, running a press is expensive! I fund Cursed Morsels out of my own pocket, and as someone who works in education and doesn’t make a ton of money, the budget is often tight.
If you’re interested in supporting Cursed Morsels’ future releases, here are three great ways to do it:
Buy books and zines from our online store.
Donate to our Ko-fi.
If you’re a writer, hire me (Eric Raglin) for freelance fiction edits. This month, I’m offering developmental edits on horror/Weird fiction novellas and novels at a rate of $120 per 10,000 words. That’s $80 cheaper than my normal rate, so take advantage of it while you can. Book me at ericraglin1992 [at] gmail [dot] com.
Alright, that’s all for now. Stay cursed, y’all!
