Gore Poetics is out TODAY!

Samir Sirk Morató’s long-awaited debut collection is finally here! For those who haven’t heard about Gore Poetics, here’s a little description:
A fraternity massacre births rewritten history, a supernatural entity, and a survivor obsessed with both. Two bog bodies ponder their star-crossed love. A chronically ill house consumes its unwilling, equally unwell tenant. A housewife discovers she's made of several million ticks—but only after they leak from her new nipple piercings.
The stories in Gore Poetics explore intimacy and annihilation through visceral, wet prose. Samir Sirk Morató makes a name for themself as a master of strange, erotic, and transgressive horror in this stunning debut collection.
Not only does this book feature Samir’s fiction; it also features their brilliant collage art, with a different piece accompanying each story. Here’s one of my favorites for their bog body love story “Limerence”, which you can read for free here:

Rad, right?! Let’s see what Joe Koch and Tiffany Morris, two titans of strange queer horror, had to say about Gore Poetics:
"Samir Sirk Morató's Gore Poetics burrows into the corpse of traditional horror fiction to emerge glistening with a new genre we might call 'lyrical splatter.' It’s literary gristle laced with compassion, a feast of emotionally-charged body horror rooted and grown in the rotting true-crime landscape of the Midwestern US. Samir’s stories refuse to find easy salvation, instead grinding their way into the light with equal scientific precision and earthiness. Gore Poetics is a powerful debut by a writer to watch and admire."
-Joe Koch, author of The Wingspan of Severed Hands and Invaginies
"This powerful debut collection explores what it is to be human, to have a body, and to be in connection with each other in all the visceral strangeness and alienation that those connections entail. These stories dazzle in abject brilliance, where boundaries blur, distort, and fracture into vivid tableaux of horror."
-Tiffany Morris, author of Green Fuse Burning and Carnalis
If those blurbs got you pumped, order the paperback or ebook from us directly. When you buy it from the Cursed Morsels store, you also receive a free FLESH zine, featuring three flesh-themed poems and stories selected by Samir and myself (Eric Raglin). See Samir’s spectacular collage cover below!
