What Happens to the Shoes You Leave on a Carnival Ship

Carnival just launched a shoe-recycling program with Miami recycler Sneaker Impact: unclaimed shoes left in cabins get sorted by condition — wearable pairs are resold to small businesses abroad, worn-out ones are broken down into athletic surfaces and yoga mats. In its first month, five ships alone kept 500+ pairs out of landfills, with fleet-wide potential near 50,000 a year. You can now donate a pair you outgrow mid-trip, too.
