Wake Me Up When August Ends
Edition 4: August 2016
August is generally a very stupid month, for reasons. It’s stood as a marker of time passing—first, school starting; then a death; then the anniversary of that death coinciding with school starting. Now that I’ve been out of school, it’s only the middle one that holds any meaning during this hottest, stickiest month of the year. And I gotta say, it ain’t my favorite way to mark time.
It’s been hot and humid and gross in Chicago. I don’t really go outside anymore because UGH the HUMIDITY. Like “Oh, the humanity,” but make it Midwest. It’s taking a toll on me. No long walks means no new Little Free Libraries.
I can’t wait for fall. The first few days of September have already been a wonderful reprieve.
